形態特徵

• Tufted without conspicuous rhizome. Culms few to several to clump, 20-50 cm tall, erect, wiry, 1 mm thick, obtusely angular, smooth, leaved only at base.
• Leaves shorter than culms, usually more or less recurved, narrowly linear, 1.5-3 mm wide, stiffish, canaliculate, weakly scarous above, suddenly contracted to acute apex; sheaths 1-7 cm long, straw-brownish.
• Inflorescence a single terminal head, globose, 12-17 mm across, densely many-spiculose, brown to orange-brown; bracts 5-8 stiffly patent, leaf like, 2-5 cm long, not sheathing at base. Spikelets lanceolate-ovate, 6-7 mm long, weakly laterally compressed, gradually narrowed from below middle to acuminate apex, 3- to 4-flowered, 1-fruited; glumes 7 or 8, somewhat 2-ranked, thinly chartaceous, folded with 1 costa, ovate to elliptic, acute.
• Achene obovate, 1.5-1.8 mm long, cuneate at base, contracted to apex, biconvexed with subacute edges which are hispid-serrulate above middle, sides sparsely hispid-scabrous mainly on upper half, maturing brown, obscurely spotted with minute iso-diametrical epidermal cells; style-base conical, 1/4-1/5 its length of achene, suddenly widened at base; style filiform, 4-5 mm long, undivided. Hypogynous bristles 6, 2/5-1/2 their length of achene, subcompressed with upwardly scabrous margins, brown.

分布

• 台灣 : Wet, open, poorly vegetated slopes.
• 世界 : Sporadically noted, but widely distributed in subtropical and tropical, Asia from western Japan through the Ryukyus, Taiwan and southeastern Chinese continent southwestwards to India, and southwards to Malaysia.
